PAPODIPOKAS
I was born and raised in Cohab 1, in the East Zone of São Paulo. In 2020, during the pandemic, I started making montages by replacing other people's faces with my own, exploring identity, imagination, and different versions of myself through images. In 2022, after being laid off, I bought my first MiniDV and began working as a filmmaker. That's when PAPODIPOKAS was born.
My work blends artificial intelligence, analog video, psychological horror, spirituality, the internet, and personal experiences. Many of the images come from dreams, fears, obsessions, and my life in São Paulo and in telemarketing. Clones, parallel realities, and transformations appear frequently.
Mad Enlatados - MULHOLLAND DRIVE: Deviant Gazes in an Algorithmic World
Every city is also a construction of images. In this conversation, Júlia Emiko, creative director at Mad Enlatados, leads a meeting with artist and filmmaker Papodipokas, Gabe Lima, creative director and founder of PURITANA.CO, and film director Paulo Nascimento about how the camera can go beyond documentation to become a tool of invention. Between cinema, art, advertising and independent production, they share how they developed their own languages capable of revealing perspectives that escape conventional framing. The panel also discusses the impact of new technologies on audiovisual creation and how they have been expanding access to image production, bringing different territories closer together, connecting centers and peripheries, and creating new ways of interpreting the city and telling its stories.
