Hermes de Sousa plants dreams and cultivates hope.
Co-founder of the Instituto Nova União da Arte (NUA), in São Miguel Paulista, of the Quebrada Sustentável project, and of a broad network of community articulations in the União de Vila Nova territory. He is co-creator of initiatives such as Escola Debaixo da Ponte and Escola de Desnegócio, as well as several solidarity-based, social, and community enterprises. Among these, the highlights include Fundo Cacimba, a local social currency aimed at strengthening the community economy, and the Uni Diversidade da Quebrada hub, a space for accessible and transformative education led by young people from the territory.
Entrepreneurship Despite and Through Structures
What is the real agency of Black and peripheral populations in formulating the measures and narratives that represent them? Beyond symbolic inclusion, the discussion investigates who occupies decision-making spaces, who defines priorities, and how entrepreneurship can be a tool for economic and political autonomy. Between structural vulnerabilities and creative power, the debate seeks to understand how to transform representation into concrete power of influence, redistributing resources, voice, and protagonism in building the future.
