Emerson Rocha
Emerson Rocha, 28, is a contemporary Afro-Brazilian visual artist from São Roque, São Paulo. His work focuses on exalting the experiences and daily life of his country's Black population, in one of the world's most racist nations. Focusing on the unique aesthetics of Black Brazilian people, he uses a very specific blue obtained by combining acrylic paint and African indigo, along with gold, black, and white as main elements in his compositions. Emerson holds a degree in Art: History, Criticism, and Curatorship from the Pontifical University of São Paulo and uses his Instagram profile as the main platform for promoting, disseminating ideas, and selling his works and prints.
