Dandara Almeida
Dandara Almeida is a cultural manager, curator, and director of Centro Cultural Olido. Originally from Vale do Jequitinhonha in Minas Gerais, a Black quilombola woman, she works to democratize access to culture and promote peripheral, Black, and urban cultures. She was the first Black woman to direct Centro Cultural São Paulo, has received important awards in the cultural field, and is co-author of the book Centro de São Paulo: Protagonistas da Transformação.
Culture that Transforms Territories: Creativity, Innovation and Urban Development
The panel will discuss how public cultural policies can promote territorial development, social inclusion, innovation in public management, and strengthening of the creative economy. Based on the experience of São Paulo, the discussion will address advances in funding policies, from the Aldir Blanc Law to PNAB, the regional distribution of resources, and the role of Culture Houses and cultural facilities in democratizing access, community participation, valorization of peripheral cultures, and audience development. The debate will also highlight experiences in cultural management, audiovisual, and development of creative businesses.
